In April, 2013, Syncrude Canada held their annual Safety Forum and Awards Ceremony at Mildred Lake. The event is used by Syncrude and Imperial/Exxon as an opportunity to showcase areas for improvement and as well give positive feedback to companies that perform well at their sites.
In 2013 Dave was named Resource Person of the Year by ACR President David Middleton. The award recognizes leaders who exemplify the best of Alberta, who stand apart as having furthered the orderly and responsible development of the province's resources in a particularly significant and lasting manner, and who serve as a model and inspiration so that others might work as hard and to such high standards of excellence as to help preserve the reputation and enable the full potential of Alberta's resource industry.
